GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (GNM)

  • Minimum Education Eligibility Criteria for Admission to GNM:

10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government are also eligible. However, Science is preferable.

10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.

10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre.

Registered ANM with pass mark.

For foreign nationals, the entry qualification equivalency (i.e., 12th standard) will be obtained by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The Institution and State Nursing Council must ensure that the qualification and eligibility are equivalent to the above.

  • Reservation:

3% disability reservation for candidates with locomotor disabilities (40% to 50% of the lower extremity) who meet other eligibility criteria.

5% relaxation in total marks for SC/ST candidates.

Other reservations as per State Government norms.

Reservation is applicable within the sanctioned seats by the INC and not above it.

Admission of students shall occur once a year.

Students shall be medically fit.

Minimum age for admission is 17 years (as of 31st December of that year); the upper age limit is 35 years. For ANM/LHV, there is no age bar.

  • Duration:

Course duration: 3 Years.

Available weeks per year: 46 weeks (excluding 4 weeks of vacation and 2 weeks for examinations).

Hours available:

1st and 2nd Year: 1840 hours per year.

3rd Year Part I: 960 hours.

Internship (Part II): 1248 hours.

Total: 5888 hours.

AUXILIARY NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (ANM)

  • Admission Terms And Conditions Minimum age for admission shall be 17 year on or before 31 December of the years inwhich admission is sought. The maximum age for admission shall be 30 years. The maximum educational requirements shall be the passing of 12 years of schooling(10+2 year course) recognized by CBSE/ICSE/SSSCE)/HSCE Or recognized equivalentexamination.
  • Medical Fitness Admission is subject to satisfactory medical examination report.

Eligibility For Admission To Examination

A candidate must have minimum of 80% attendance (irrespective of the kind of absence)in theory and practical in each subject for appearing for examination.

A candidate must have 100% attendance in each of the practical areas before theaward of completion certificate/diploma by the state nursing council examination board.

On completion of practical experience, records to be signed by the tutor andcountersigned by the principal.

The examination for the 2nd year should happen at the end of the year. A certificate ofcompletion of internship by each student should be provided by the principal beforeentering for the examinations.
