SSC CHSL Skill Test

For some posts, a Skill Test is required:

  • Skill Test for DEO (Data Entry Operator):

Speed Requirement: 8,000 key depressions per hour.

Duration: 15 minutes to type approximately 2000-2200 strokes.

  • Skill Test for DEO in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG):

Speed Requirement: 15,000 key depressions per hour.

Duration: 15 minutes to type approximately 3700-4000 key depressions.

  • Typing Test for LDC/JSA:

English Medium: Typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) (equivalent to 10,500 key depressions per hour).

Hindi Medium: Typing speed of 30 w.p.m. (equivalent to 9,000 key depressions per hour).

Duration: 10 minutes.

  • Summary of Important Points

Exam Duration:

Tier 1: 60 minutes (80 minutes for PWD)

Tier 2: 1 hour for most modules (15 minutes for Computer Knowledge)

Negative Marking: 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Tier 1.

Skill Test: Required for DEOs and LDC/JSA. Typing and Data Entry speeds must be met within the allocated time.
